Joseph Newton christened 17 May 1835 Christ Church Southwark married Ann Margaret Allison Jun qr 1863 Hampstead 1861 Census Living with father James and Mary and George at 44 Trinity Square Newington 1871 census Thicket Road St Paul Croydon Joseph Newton head 35 firebrick merchant Born Southwark Annie wife 28 Born Soho Middlesex Joseph 7 son Born Penge Annie M 11 months born Penge Florence Todd visitor 27 companion? plus 3 servants – cook, nurse, housemaid Emily Jane staying with grandfather James at Burwash. Age 4 born Penge Surrey 1881 Census (Transcribed under Hewton not Newton) Sherwood Lodge Anerley Road Pensge Joseph Head Marr 45 Fire Brick Merchant Ann M wife 38 Joseph A son 17 James E Son 8 + three servants 1891 Census 5 Clarendon Road Margate Kent Joseph head 55 firebrick merchant born Southwark Ann(ie) M wife 48 born Middlesex St John’s Wood Emily J daughter 24 born Penge Annie M daughter 20 born Penge James E son 18 born Penge Emily A Legge visitor 21 Kent Gravesend plus cook Death for a Joseph Newton in Thanet age 64 September 1900. Right age. Thanet 2a 588 I can't find them after the 1891 census otherwise - no marriages or anything. Help would be appreciated - I have looked under alternative names, as the 1881 census was transcribed as Hewton. |
