Anybody heard of Poyk in Worcestershire????

Suspect it has been written down incorrectly but if anybody knows somewhere in Worcestershire that resembles it, it would be much appreciated. Albert Jones b1852 is supposed to have been born there according to the 1901 census. Living in Broughton, Lancashire if anyone cares to take a look. Thanks. |

I would guess it was supposed to be Powick in Worcestershire. Have you looked for him in earlier census' to see what his birthplace is given as? |

I think it might be Powick as well, looking at the map. Just wondering if it is like Slaithwaite in Yorks, where people pronounce if Slowit or the enumerator mishearing. Checking out earlier census records there are a couple of Albert Jones from Worecestershire but I cant work out which one yet. None with Poyk or Powick or Rock |

In 1991 he is listed as born in Worcester and Powick is on the fringe and in 1881 he is listed as born in Powick |
