Well probably not like that or my dad might have had a heart attack...my grandfather was in the navy its been a running joke in the family that theirs some siblings out there somewhere I've been in touch with the husband of a second cousin of my dads in Perth Austrailia (i'm in Edinburgh) for about a year now via email. I told him my dads occupation that he had a shop in X street and he must have mentioned it to his other relation (in Edinburgh) who by chance alreay knows my dad! Anyway this man went into my dads shop today and started to talk to him about it :) He's going to go back later with some stuff, my dad didnt really going into what 'stuff' it would be (he's not into genealogy at all) but i'm hoping 'stuff' might be a photo or two...fingers crossed. Ta for the messages guys :) I was so not expecting this...nor was my dad by the sounds of it, lol Another funny thing is that the guy works for...an undertakers...lol My dads side of the family are so different from my mums. On my mums side i see my grandparents and one uncle at least once a week, usually more while the others i see at least every two weeks and hear from them every couple of days. They are a very close family. On my dads side it wasnt until my gran passed away that i started to se more of them. My dads eldest brother thought the family would drift apart so kinda pulled it back together. My mum always used to say that we only saw my dads family at weddings and funerals. The first doesnt happen that often and the latter...well i'd rather that didnt happen. I have lots of pictures of my dads father in his navy days and quite a few of my dad and his brothers when they where kids but hardly anything else on the rest of that family. I have one picture of my grt gran and a couple of my grandads brothers (none of his only sister) but thats it. Oh...i hope the guys back soon...we go on holiday on saturday! I'll be starved of the internet for two weeks... :) Mhairi

Mhairi, that's wonderful!! It's great how the genealogy bug can (generally) pull people together. Past 'misdemeanours' become present day real life puzzles that we want to solve!! :o) maggie
