Hi Scotlands People have now put RCEs online. One tip though. Make sure the entry is for the registry ou are looking for first, as it is done by page and the charge is per page not per entry. As there are a few entries on one page it might not refer to your registry. Julie

I found the RCE for my gg grandfather who died of Opium poisoning, but guess what.....i can hardly make out a thing. Why does it seem anything related to my ancestors has to be written in an illegible scrawl?? Very useful though, if you do actually manage to read it!

Hi Liz I agree. There is a lot of information on these RCEs. I have found the father of my gggrandmothers illegitmate child. Does that now mean another family to research. I find if yopu keep going back to the writing you it becomes easier to read. Julie

Siobahn. A reference is written in the left hand column of the original cerificate. That is the way it is shown in my ggm's death certificate and I ordered the RCE, which was received last week. The original said 'run over by horse and cart, killed instantaneously.' The RCE says:'Accident - being run over on head by wheel of Lorry.' Ray.

Can I just remind you all that if you have illegible images from SP please contact them. They will enhance the image (by doing a scan from the original register) and will send you this - believe me it's well worth it! Ray - would that be an accident in Inverness, by chance??
