HI Did the person die abroad, in which case it would have been ordered from the registry abroad by the gro. Or it could have got caught in the foreign post & they have sent it back

I wonder if it was intercepted, opened and then re enveloped ???? My mail from GRO has TNT on the envelope.

No the lady was my gggrandmother and she died in Warrington in 1888 it said on the envelope Profile Mailers Zurich, but the certificate came from the GRO

I would contact Profile Mailers Zurich. The envelope may have been damaged or possibly; could the GRO have emailed the image to Switzerland who have then printed it and sent it on to you ? I don't know ?????

This is happening to quite a few people. Apparently to save money(?), GRO are outsourcing their mailing to foreign companies, so certificates can arrive from anywhere now. If you order direct from the local registry office, then they will arrive in the usual way. Liz

Thanks for that Liz, I was wondering if it had ben misdirected and opened then re-posted as there was nothing on the envalope to say it was from the GRO. Chris.

I did contact the GRO and the reply was no further action will be taken on your query please check frequently asked questions !!!! there was nothing on the FAQ so unless it is because of cost savings I still don't know, but what about privacy laws etc. Chris.
