Does anyone have access to the 1871 census for Crewe/Nantwich? Is it possible to look up by address? I have a family member born soon after the census while parents were visiting relatives - but who? The address was: 8 Newdigate Street, Monks Coppenhall. Is there any other way to find out who lived there, were there electoral rolls at that time? Marian

Marian have you got the surname of who you are hoping to be there, as you can only do an address search on the 1881

Hi Monks Coppenhall as it was called is now just listed as Crewe. Newdigate Street still exists. Will take a look and see if I can find Newdigate Street in 1871. Its not an easy task to do an address look up, can you give me any idea of a name? Cheryl

In 1871 the family living there were John Dickinson aged 32 an engine fitter from Yorkshire, his wife Mary 32 for Leeds and their daughter Sarah 13 from Ormley Yorks

Thank you Julie & Cheryl. I don't know the name of the relative who lived there, which is what I am hoping to find out. It might have been PRICE, JOYCE, CLARK or THOMAS. If the entries aren't accessibly by the address I'm not going to find out I'm afraid. Marian

Thank you K, that was a swift lookup! Not at all who I was expecting, but gives me a new lead. Marian
