£14000 was the value of the estate. He left £3000 plus personal jewellery, trinkets and ornaments to his wife. Rest of estate went to his brother and business partner. |

I paid my first visit to a records office at the weekend and saw a copy of my GGG Grandfathers will. Unfortunately it was bound in a book and would have cost £5.50 per page to get copied (11 pages). I'm sure I've read you can order a copy of a will for £5 but can't remember where from. The will was 'proved' in 1867, 9 months after death at Newcastle upon Tyne. Any advice welcome. Also can anyone tell me a website which will convert £14,000 in 1867 to todays value. (If you can also tell me why I'm not rich that would be nice) lol T.O.R. ;o)) |
