MARRYING CLOSE RELATIVES?

Does anyone know the legal position on marrying ones in- laws? I'm talking about the early 1800s, my grtgrtgrtgrt,grandfather surname SPINK married a Sarah KEEMISH, and I've now found what i belive to be their son, also married to a KEEMISH,not at present made a definite connection, as we're talking pre registeration, so am relying on Parish records which do not always record all details, but this does look like this could be his mothers sister or niece, anyone any ideas? they did go on to have children together, as have found their births. Thanks Scarlet, so having children with your cousin is ok as well? wasnt sure if that counted as interbreeding. thanks again Nicky |
