I would think that the church would have records of the person/persons who put up the plaque. They would be my first enquiry |

Any advice/tips gratefully received on how to search for 'relatives' after the 1901 census when you don't have any information except their names - one of which is popular George Vaughan and the other I don't even know if it refers to a male or female! (March Vaughan?!). They were both alive in the 1920s as they put up a plaque in a church to their parents but other than that I have no idea if they married had children etc. Any advice gratefully received. - Harriet |

Many thanks June - that is as far as I'd got then I hit a brick wall with the boys. the father henry died in 1885ish and the mother is buried in Italy d1915 (according to the church plaque) but where do I go now???? I'll try Shirley's idea with the church - although I doubt they will know whether they were married or not as the boys come from Sussex/Hampshire. H |

The text of the memorial in Gotham church is on the southwellchurches website, if you don't already have it. In the Times of 24/6/1947, the will of March Vaughan, barrister, of Horsham, is mentioned. I would get a copy of the will, which will hopefully mention family members! |

to Lynne and Anne Thank you so much for the census info and the will in the Times. I'd've never found the will and I'd obviously missed him the census. This is a real leap forward. I'd stumbled on the southwell church website quite by chance when googling for Paynton Pigott Stainsby Conant who is the common relative. KR Harriet |
