Does anybody know whether nurses travelled on troop ships returning from African wars in the late 1880s (2nd Beuchuanaland NOT Boer war). If they did where would be the best place to look for records of nurses? I'm still searching for my gt Grandmother. - got a nugget of information of an old family story that she nursed my gt grandfather on his way back from Africa and after he was not allowed to marry his true love he married her on the rebound. Grandfather born 1900 in Ireland with gt gndfather working in Ireland so definitely not Boer war. |
