My grandmother left her husband & family in the early 1930s. I can find no trace of her death either under her married or maiden name. Is it possible if she lived with someone & posed as their wife that her death would be registered under that name? I dont know what checks are done - I registered both my parents deaths & I dont remember being asked to show any proof that they were who I said they were. If this is the case I may as well stop trying to find her but wondered if anyone out there has had the same problem.

with regard to registering deaths and being asked for proof of who they are etc, i wasnt asked for any prof of who i was or my father whose death i was registering. so yes it would be possble that she lived with another man

When was she born? Remember that all recent deaths show the full date of birth, so you can search on that alone. Jim

Thanks for the replies. Have tried for another marriage but no luck. Have also started to go through all the Alice's with the same birth date - could be a long job!
