Can anyone help. I have lost the sound on my computer. I haven't done anything different. All the cables are where they should be. Any ideas anyone.

In your system tray - the bit of the toolbar at the bottom which has the clock, there will be an icon with a picture of a loudspeaker (you may have to click on the << arrows to see it) Hover over this and it will say Volume Control. Click once to see a slider. Make sure it's not on minimum and that the Mute box is not ticked. Lin

Thanks for your replies. The mute isn't on and I haven't touched anything different. I will check the cables again tomorrow, doesn't make sense.

See my earlier post. The Mute button is the box which must not be ticked. Also if you have external dpeakers: check the obvious - is the power still connected? I've had a similar one and it was the power supply (the little black box) to the speakers that had failed. Lin

For Sue in Lincs I've got rid of the mute shortcut from my systems tray, but I have a mute button on my keyboard. The 'mute icon' is the 'sound icon' (like a megaphone trumpet) with a large cross through it. Ozi.

Sue Have you by any chance downloaded an 'update' Sometimes i find my computer does it all by itself. If this happens i also loose my sound. If you have got system restore trying going back to when you last had sound, and see what happens - its worked for me a couple of times Maureen
