I have my great grandmother claiming she was born c 1870 Woolwich. I think she has a brother also born same place. I have been searching for their births but so far have drawn a blank. What district would woolwich be registered under please?

that is the only Maria I can find. It may be coicidence that Charles Butler is there also. I was assuming he was her brother but looking on 1871 census I think maybe not.

Maria BUTLER married William Pearson 1890 Northfleet and gave her age as 20 and fathers name as William BUtler. On the 1891 and 1901 she gives her birth place as Woolwich. It is her that I have been trying to track down. On 1881 there is a Maria Butler of the right age and birth place in the metropolitan district school. There is also a Charles BUTLER c 1867 also born Woolwich which leads me to think he could be an older brother. I thought if I cant find Maria Butler on 1871 then maybe I could find Charles Butler. He is indeed on ther but transcribed as Buller and the is a baby names George so I dont think this could be the same family now.

that could be the one Perhaps her mothers name was ann so they just called her Maria and she may not have known her real name was ann maria lol If that makes sense
