LARGE FAMILY BIBLE -1827. Item number: 150122072780 Large comprehensive family bible, tan coloured leather with gilt detail and lettering. Some wear of cover due to age and use. Gilt on page edges still bright, apart from some foxing at beginning and end of book, the pages are in very good condition, no creases, tears or loose leaves. The handwritten inscription reads; ' From Richard Lord Viscount Belgrave - church warden of St. Georges Parish. Hanover Sq. London. To Richard Roberts - his Sidesman - A.D. 1826. In Testimony of his intelligent assistance in the discharge of the duties of the office - And particularly in approbation of his readiness to reform abuses wherever they existed - '. In the back are births, deaths and marraige entries of the Roberts family, beginning with Richard Roberts and ending in 1967. Book measures210mm. x 265mm. x 83mm. and weighs in excess of 3 kilo.

Hi Its a shame these items arent returned to the rightful owners. I have 3 prayer books that i collected years ago amongst other things, before i was doing the family tree thing, now i feel they should go to the family that originally owned them as they do have the names written in them. shall list them tomorrow.
