My family have always thought that my great great grandfather, Thomas Cummins was a professional clown who worked in the theatres in Liverpool during the latter part of the 19th century. He was supposed to have worked with Dan Leno. However on the 1881 census his occupation is listed as'painter'. We have a photograph of him in costume but how do I find out if and where he appeared as a clown? Another ancestor puzzle! |
