If you click on the heading of his record then on the next page you can request an estimate for it, the estimate will be sent to your email address with a link to ordering it if you want to. I think the min is £10. I have done this on 3 occasions and got the copy of the records through the post. Saves a trip to Kew and cheaper than doing it too. Shirley

Alice Im not sure when the Seamans Service records stated but I have a Seamans Ticket for one ancestor dated 1845 and although it only has the name of one ship it gives a date of birth, place of birth and details of his tattoos which is really nice to have. Sheila

I could be wrong but I think it could possibly be a Seamans Ticket which is slightly different to a seamans record.

ADM 139 should be his service record - often quite detailed - physical description, date joined, ships served on, etc.

I found this on the National archives site: Scope and content Original page number: 459 Alfred FAICHEN; Rating; Born: 28 June 1845, Southampton, London; Age on entry: [Not Given]; Dates served: [Not Given]; Date and Type of Application: Whitehall 1 January 1866. See also ADM 139/553 CS 15269A Not really sure what it is but it seems he seems to have died in London in 1865 - does anyone know what this record would be about? Thank you Alice
