Please can someone help me find marriage details for my ancestors: Louisa Victoria Nurton Frederick George Lee I've got Louisa's birth certificate, but not 100% sure it's the right one (though about 99.9% sure). I want to find their marriage certificate so I can confirm. Any help will be most appreciated. Claire

Can you give an approximate date for the marriage and a likely area? If not what date is the birth you have found for Louisa. Kath. x

Thanks for your help. Sorry I completly forgot to give dates as I was in a bit of a rush. I have Louisa's bc and I'm pretty sure she is my ggm. I just wanted to find a marriage certificate so I could confirm with fathers names. Details on her birth certificate are: DOB: 3/11/1901, Neasden (Willesden, London) Name: Louisa Victoria Fathers name: Joseph George Nurton Mothers name: Louisa Nurton, nee Probert From her bc I could find her parents marriage on freebmd straightaway, but I want to get her marriage out of the way first. I know she died in Brighton but don't know when. Thanks guys Claire

Thanks for that Kath. I don't think it's the right death record as I was under the impression that she died a lot earlier than that, possibly by about 20 years. Thanks for your help though. I really don't know where else to look for marriage details, are there any sites you can recommend? I use freebmd most. Claire

Thanks Lynne, is that through the GRO? Hadn't thought of doing it that way. DO you have to write to them or can you do it online? Claire

Hi Clare, You could send for the marriage certificate that Kathleen has found but with the proviso that you only want it if the brides fathers name is the one on the bc you have got, if it is not the right fathers name they won't send it and you don't have to pay.The only other way is to go onto something The Geneologist and pay and trawl through all the records but if you have no idea of the date this can be very time comsuming and expensive, sometimes you can make a guess dependant on the date of eldest childs birth, Lynne

You can order certificates online wirth the reference numbers I have given at this address:- www.gro.gov.uk/certificates Make sure when you fill in the form that whewn it asks 'Is the full GRO reference known?' that you tick the 'yes' box otherwise they will charge you more. Don't pay more than £7. If you think her death was before 1984, then the only way to find it is to trawl through the death index on Ancestry, qtr. by qtr. and year by year. The one I found was the only one with that name after 1984, so you can start at 1983 and work backwards. It costs nothing to register with Ancestry and nothing to search the indexes. Kath. x
