The others on the page he's on look like marines. So he was probably a marine officer's servant. Have you tried googling 'Favourite' +1850 to see where the ship was during that decade? Ozi. Update: I believe HMS Favorite was a steam ship.

a while ago i asked for some help on one of my uncles his name was benjamin horn he was in the navy in 1871 as a ships officers servant after 1871 i cannot trace him i havetryed death records but nothing seems to comeup i have found some of them in alverstoke can any one help from lyn
