Thank you for the leads... I will follow them through and see where I end up. I'll let you know Ivy, I particularly like your Bristol Stone Cutter William... I think I'll start with him Lin :o) |

Perhaps try tracing these forward from 1861 census, Devon and Hampshire (both have father William, first labourer, but second a grocer): Class: RG9; Piece: 1439; Folio: 27; Page: 47; GSU roll: 542813. Class: RG9; Piece: 672; Folio: 136; Page: 13; GSU roll: 542682. or this from 1851: Bristol (father William is a stone cutter) Class: HO107; Piece: 1953; Folio: 294; Page: 17; GSU roll: 87353. |

You haven't said how old he was when he married. Bear in mind that 'deceased' fathers were sometimes invented by illegitimate children........not that this is necessarily the case with your chap! Reg |

What do I know about him? 1. He married Mary Jane Paul on 5 June 1878 in Bath Register Office. His occupation is Coachman. His father is given as William Bull (deceased) Mason. Both bride & groom give their address as 3 Monmouth Place Bath. His age was 29 and hers was 25. 2. Mary Jane Paul was born 7 Nov 1852 in Nether Stowey SOM and died 24 Jul 1878 in Bedminster - they had been married only 6 weeks. 3. His daughter by Mary Jane was Beatrice Mary Bull born 17 Jun 1878 - 12 days after he married. James Henry Bull registered the birth at 3 Monmouth Place, Bath and still gives his occupation as a Coachman. 4. Baby Beatrice goes to live with her maternal grandparents Jenry & Mary Ann Paul of Abbots Leigh SOM and then lives with her Aunt Lucy Paul in Bristol 5. Beatrice marries William Bertram Liddiard Cox (aka Willie & Bertie) on 28 Nov 1902 in Bristol Register Office and gives her father as James HARRY Bull Coachman This man is my GG Grandfather, but he was only around for 6 weeks (well presumably there was another 8.5 months before he married too!) I have no idea where he is from or where he went. Does anyone have any ideas about how I might find him please? I've failed on ancestry so far. Lin |
