Thanks everyone for all your replies and input. I was amazed at how simple it is to use and agree that GR could learn some lessons. Think you've swayed me. I'll still stay on here though for contacts, etc., As I said with rellies all over the world TP has been a great way for them to see my work and they are thrilled to be able to do so. Thanks again. Cheers Margaret. |

I have had five excellent contacts on TP in about three months, compared with two good contacts on here in over three years. And my family are almost exclusively UK based. I regularly search TP for my more obscure names/brick walls etc. If you haven't tried it, then I beg you to go and have a look. You are allowed to have your tree on more than one site! OC |

It's far more accurate yes. The problem I find is Tribal Pages is far more weighted to U.S members, so I get nowhere near as many matches as here, which is more U.K. This could of course change as more and morev U.K members find out about it and join. |

I absolutely second OC. It's a site worth fully supporting through paid subscription. Excellent features and value for money when compared to other sites. I paid £16 for the premium and have never regretted doing so. When I think of the money I've spent on Ancestry, certificates, parish register sites, wills etc, some times too in vain, £16 a year is nothing for such a great site. I will say Genes is better for making contacts and the board here for tips, so I remain amember here, but one thing they could certainly learn from TP is find a good format, set your prices at a fair level, and then for heavens sake..STICK TO IT! |

I absolutely love it - so easy for an idiot like me to use, and even I can (usually) confine my notes to 1,000 words! I will upgrade at some point, but mostly because I feel guilty about having a freebie for such an outstanding site - they certainly deserve to make some money out of it. I have recently emailed them with a suggestion that we have some sort of facility to flag our direct ancestors.(I get confused as many of my ancestors have duplicated names). I am very confident that something will come out of my request - the site owners actually READ messages and consider what you say. OC |

Hi Margaret The up grade is well worth the price especially if you want to let your relations see the full extent of your labours. It will enable you to add upto 1000 copies of photo's, certificates, letters etc. You can write extensive notes for them to view which saves having to repeat them time and again as you expand your contacts, you can just refer them to your site. It has a great way of presenting the information, pity they don't sell it as a tree package. |

I have nearly 2000 people on my free TP tree and havent felt the need to upgrade yet. The cost of upgrading to a paid account varies from day to day (because of the exchange rate) and should appear on your home page when you log in. OC |

I didn't want to rush into it, i'm a cautious devil and at the moment happy with it, just wondered how upgrading would be of benefit. And, how others found it in general as a site. Cheers M. |

Thanks Amanda, I've only just basically gone there, and so pleased with the ease of use, wasn't sure what extra the upgrade would give me. Sounds pretty good. Cheers Margaret. |

I have just upgraded mine - cost me less than £10. It gives you more photo space, more note space, and you can print off family groupings to several generations. The main reason I upgraded though was to enable me to upload the gedcom into Family Tree Maker whan I finally get round to buying it - it will save hours of work and so worth every penny to me! Hope that helps. |

Found tribal pages excellent to allow my rellies on distant shores to view the family history. At the moment, i'm free, but it does say upgrade for a better site. Should I go for it, and does anyone know the cost? Are there any drawbacks? Any input, welcome. Cheers Margaret. |
