Lindy I can't help you but I am not suprised that a sister wouldn't know about siblings who may have been born before them. I have suprised my mum by finding 3 siblings that were born and died before her birth.....She was the last of, as it turned out, 13 children and all three had died in early childhood. If I remember correctly, without hunting through my files....One born before her eldest known sibling, one between sibling one and two, and the third between sibling four and five. Mum was a 'late' baby and her nearest sibling was 7 years older than her so she never heard sibling 'gossip'. She now has only one sibling alive, the nearest to her in age, and he doesn't remember them ever being talked about. As I said not any help :))) Chris >>UPDATE.....So if a sister is now 89 and a brother died in 1918 then that might explain why she didn't know about him!

Hi Kathleen, I'm certain that Herbert isn't my rellie, they stayed around the same area forever.

There is an H. R. Arnold on the Commonwealth War Graves site but parents are Harvey and Nellie Arnold of Birmingham, so don't think this can be the right one. Kath. x

That certainly looks like the right one Gwyn. Mrs. N. Arnold could be Ellen (Nellie). Kath. x

I have an uncle that appears to have vanished, can anyone suggest anything to find him. He is Herbert R Arnold born 1900 in Shoreditch. Parents are Charles Samuel Arnold and Ellen Louisa Arnold (nee Turner) I have found his birth and an entry on 1901 Census but that's all. No marriage, no death. nobody in the family that I have spoken to even knows of his existance including his younger sister who is still alive aged 89yrs. Any ideas please Linda
