He is also listed in the 1829 Trade Directory. I think he must have died between 1829 and 1834 because Mary Nowell was named in the trade directory at the Golden Lion in 1834.

I have a gg grandad Abraham Nowell, his death certificate puts him as being born around 1769. He married Mary Preston in 1794 in Sedbergh while he was a recruiting sergeant based in Settle, as on IGI. No other army records anywhere.(It was Marys second marriage she was originally Mary Clayton). After Marys death he married Mary Atkinson in 1801 in Sedbergh. I have searched all Sedbergh and surrounding areas and also Settle, and most of Kendal for his birth. He was listed in the 1822 Trade Index as being in the Golden Lion as a Virtualler. Anyone any ideas where I could look next or what to do. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Marilyn
