I suspect this may be removed to the 'trying to find' board but how can I find when I can't remember the surname! Has anyone any ideas on how to find some ex-neighbours called Ros & Eric who lived next to us at Vineyard farm on a hill overlooking Charlton Kings near Cheltenham back in 1961? I think it's going to be impossible. Please prove me wrong! |

Well, Id ring my old phone number - or theirs - and ask the people living there now if they had any idea where they went. If you go to the Land Registry site you may be able to find the deeds for their home and download them about £3 I think. this may have their names on them? If it were in a village location Id also ring the local post office and ask them if they remembered at least their surname - then you could do an electoral roll or phone book search. I just googled Vineyards Farm, Charlton Kings and it appears there were archaelogical diggings there at some time, so I guess the local history society or museum may know the name of the people who lived there? Failing all this, the local paper. |

If you know the name of the local newspaper, you could ask if they would put a letter in the paper when they can asking if anyone knows the present whereabouts of Ros and Eric, who used to live at......address. Give your email address so anyone with information can get in touch. I found my granddad's daughter from his second marriage in this way. Good luck Kath. x |

Electoral rolls are arranged by address rather than surname so if you can get access (by contacting Cheltenham library?) to the roll for the time when you and they were neighbours and find your own entry their's should be next on the list, or at least very close. |

Thankyou all for the suggestions. I think I'll try Cheltenham town hall for the electoral roll at that time. The trouble is I tend to forget that I'm looking at 46years ago! God how time flies by when you're enjoying yourself! |
