The banns are recorded in a separate book for that time span - each parish will have its own banns book. So, if they lived in 2 different parishes and were married after banns, there should be one marriage entry, but 2 banns entries. Jay

Thank's Clive, havn't looked through Parish Records for ages, couldn't remember, if the Banns are recorded would it be in the same way as the marriage or on a different list.I am thinking late 19th century early 20th. Gill

Depends on parish and date! In some cases there is a record in the register of the banns and in other cases not. Note the marriage should only be recorded once. In the case of one old vicar he did not always remember to have the register signed and there is no record of banns being read except for marriages which took place in his church! Clive

When looking for a marriage in Parish records, even though a couple marry in the brides parish is the marriage still recorded in the grooms parish if different, I know the banns are read in both. Thank's Gill
