Hello, I am hoping that there maybe someone on here who could help me with a surname pronounciation. I'm tracing my Scottish LINNEN roots and have just discovered that the family actually originated in Ireland with the name of LENAN (found on a marriage extract). I was wondering how this is pronounced. Is it: Lee-nan or Len-an??? It would give me some clues as to why the surname has changed. It appears that my great great grandfather was not able to write so I'm wondering if the name change (on records) was due to someone else's spelling of the name? I hope this makes sense!! Heather :o)

Heather I dont know about your family but I have come across Lenan mistranscirbed or changed to Lenon or Lennon, if it's from scotland it could even be Mclenan. Georgina.
