I have been looking for months now for a marriage record of a Henry Maples Kitchen (abt 1872 in Broughton Nottingham) to a Selina Burchnall (abt 1864 Plumtree Nottingham). In 1891 he is still living with his parents in Nottingham, by 1901 he is living with his wife and 2 yr old child in Coalville, Leicestershire (his child was born in Loughborough). I know Selina's maiden name is Burchnall as I purchased their daughter Agnes' birth cert, although the cert was typed out so could have been misspelt. I can not find a marriage that fits anywhere, or any trace of a Selina Burchnall or variations of that name. Any help would be great, Vicky X |

Hi Reg, I have looked at the Leicester records office so I'm pretty sure they didn't marry in Loughborough at least, I have looked on Ancestry and family search. Any ideas where to look next? Vicky |

As Reg and Heather say, they may never have married. If she had been married previously, she may not have bothered second time round. Or, maybe they married after 1901? I've got rellies not marrying until their third child. Liz |

The birth cert would record only the MMN........have you looked at the possibility of a previous marriage? She was a bit older than usual for a first-time bride............ Reg |

I cant see a child with that name - I wonder if her mother remarried when Selina were very young. |

Thanks for all your advice, I will look at the possibility that Selina was married before. I also need to find out if there were any more children after 1901, so I'll look at recods for them. Vicky X |
