An Olde Crone | Report | 20 May 2007 21:56 |
I have the unusual first name of Parnell (female) running through one branch of my tree. I was very puzzled to find Parnell Stubbs marrying James Henshaw, and then apparently marrying Joseph Henshaw two months later. A lot of head scratching later, it turned out the two Parnells were cousins,(born in the same year, but in different villages) as were the two Henshaw men. An unusual name in a family is often copied by other close relatives I have discovered, to my misery. OC |

I know you said you found her married to a Charles in 1841 but I double checked - she was with William and looks like your Matthew is with them and has taken Williams surname: On this census it says he was born Lincs, but the 1841 was a 'born or not born this county' tick job and is very iffy re places of birth. Looks like she was Williams second wife. Just one question - how do you know that your chaps Zilpha was originally an Allbones - there are a number of Zilpha Taylors (amazingly). Im a bit worried that the marriage of Zilpha Allbones was in Lincs and your chap born in Hull (not a million miles, but there is in fact a Zilpha Taylor nearer to that town in the 1841 - albeit it apparently living on her own: Zilpah Taylor abt 1811 Yorkshire, England Halifax Yorkshire Zilpah Taylor abt 1816 Lincolnshire, England Alford Lincolnshire Zilpha Taylor abt 1811 Adderbury Oxfordshire Further the Zilpha Taylor living in Lincs is shown in 1871 living with a spouse called Charles but next door to a William Taylor married to an Ann. Now that could be an enumerators mix up with brothers. But something is not quite right here. Do you have the boys birth certificate? |

Hi I wonder if anyone can make sense of my Zipah/Zilpha rellies. This is a first name that runs through my family from my Allbones branch. My3xgreat gran was Zilpah and I am decended from her illigitimate son Matthew Henry. She seems to have married eventually as I have her living in 1841 with a charles Taylor, BUT somone on here contacted me with different info and she seems to have been married to a william Taylor in her research. ( this lady is a decendant of one of her subsequent Taylor children) I think she was born in Withern with stain, but Matthew was born in Hull. Im positive the two bits of info relate to the same person, how common can Zilpah(sometimes spelt Zilpha) Allbones be? The thought of the more experienced will be recived with thanks!! |

Looks like your contact is right: Or certainly a Zilpha Allbones married a William Taylor in Lincs. May be there are two? Marriages Jun 1838 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ABBOTT Elizabeth Spilsby 14 983 >>>>Allbones Zilpah Spilsby 14 983 LEE Sarah Spilsby 14 983 MARRIOTT John Spilsby 14 983 PARKINSON Ann Spilsby 14 983 SMITH Robert Spilsby 14 983 SMITH William Spilsby 14 983 >>>>TAYLOR William Spilsby 14 983 If you or your contact does not have the marriage certificate I would suggest you use the above info to buy it from GRO online for £7 - it will then take you back a further generation on the Allbones line. |
