They all lived in Willesden, London. Most of my family (both sides) come from there. It was classed as being in the county of Middlesex. Thanks for your help. Claire

Well Im sure there are lists of childrens homes - Ill see if its about on here and nudge it for you but you would need to know which area of London - I think great uncle is the first stop with this and write down EVERYTHING he says and then search. Good luck

Unfortunatly this ones pretty true! My gdads brother is the only one left so will have to get on to him. I have heard he is happy to part with information, so that's good! I was just wondering if there were lists of residents of care homes or something I could look into?? Claire

Without grandads input - take it he and all the siblings are gone? - then I dont think you have much chance of finding where they went. Try any other older rellies who may have some snipets of info that could be pieced together. I have to say, that many a story passed down turns out not to be quite as bad as it sounds!

Hi, Just wondered if anyone could give me some help as I really don't know where to look. It's a bit of a sob story really. When my Grandad was young he and his brothers and sisters were abandoned, first by their father and then by their mother (they each just walked out one day and never came back). I have no idea how old the children were (my gdad was born in 1926) or why they left. I have an idea that the children were first looked after by the eldest sister and then they were put in to care. I do know they weren't adopted (perhaps they were older children?? Nearly adults??). Is there anyway to trace what happened to them and where they went in that time? They all came out fine (they were quite a close family) and it's not like we've lost anyone along the way, but I would just like to know what happened to them during that time. This would have happened in London I think. Thanks in advance Claire
