Hi Linda, What I would do is ask the person who sent it to you to resend it and delete the first one. Sorry I can't be of any more help. Christine |

Linda, If you RIGHT click on the file you will get a list of options including 'Extract here'. this is one of the Windows XP options. Just click on that option and the file will be extracted although it will be in a separate folder with the same name if there are multiple files. Just open the folder and the original files will be there. Your Windows Help and Support includes a detailed list of instructions. Just enter 'Extract files' in the search box. I just prefer to use WinZip as it is much more flexible for my uses. |

Sorry to be a bore with this but I have looked at the instructions and it says 'click on the file' and in the window that opens click 'Extract all files' Tried that and no window appeared. Any more suggestions? I am desperate to see these photos of all our new family that were taken on Saturday Linda |

Thanks very much Mary. I googled ' How to unzip a zip file ' and it just said that Windows XP had it's own inbuilt facility. I thought that meant that it would just open...D'OH. As you tell I'm good with a computer!!!!! . Still you live and learn. Thanks a lot. Linda |

Hi Linda, You usually have to unzip a zip file before you can use it. Once unzipped the file will be in its original format and size. Assuming that you have downloaded and installed WinZip (the easiest program to use with zip files), just right click on your zip file in Windows Explorer and select 'unzip to here'. The file will then be converted into it's original format and can be opened with the appropriate program. A zip file is a compressed file, for instance you may have a large Word document with a file name ending in the extension doc, after zipping the file will be much smaller, and therefore suitable for e-mailing, with an extension of zip. After unzipping the file will be restored to its original size and format. Paul |
