Hi Clare thanks for that, it definetly isnt the WILLIAM THOMAS in Tonbridge thats acompletely different family and the one in St Martins in the field is unlikely as I belive he was older than his sister Sarah who was born in 1860, though looking down the list of family birth years there is a gap SARAH 1860 to EDWIN HENRY 1865, so there is a possibility the St Martins one is him I had always previously dismissed it but seeing it today it seems a possibility. Thanks Nicky |

Can anyone help me with my elusive gr grandfather , can not find his birth around 1860. He is listed on all censuss from 1861, his parents are PHILIP COPPER AND FRANCES nee GODDEN, when living with his parents his birth is listed as TUNBRIDGE KENT. After his marriage to BESSIE HOULT in 1888 he is listed on census as being born NEWPORT HAMPSHIRE, there is no GRO listing for this birth in either place, and with IOW fhs now having complete index I have checked there also, I know it wasnt compulsory to register births till 1875, but he is the only child in his family of 8 children not registered , and Icant imagine why they would register them all except him, its annoying for me as he is my direct line, there is a WILLIAM THOMAS COPPER registered born in TONBRIDGE 1860, this is not my William, have I missed something here, is he listed, and i just cant find it? |
