I am looking for the marriage of John Edward Holland to Elizabeth Eleanor ? He was born in Greenwich about 1781. Their first known child Thomas born 1811 in Greenwich. I say first known as none of their next 6 children were named John or Elizabeth which I find quite strange. Any pointers in the right direction would be really appreciated. Thanks Chris |

There are a few on pallots with an Elizabeth in nearish parishes - i.e. Rotherhithe and only one with an Eleanor: BUT its a few years after the first kiddie - so unlikely I guess. Name: John Holland Spouse: Eleanor Kalar Marriage Date: 7 Feb 1815 Parish: St George IN The Borough St George is near Greenwich so possibly the wifes parish. But you really need to see the registers dont you. Shame none of the kids have come up with Kalar in their names. Unusual one. Or this: still only grasping at straws though John Holland Elizth Reed 1806 Rotherhithe |

Hi Georgina I have the info from the IGI but was not aware that Thomas was not christened until he was 30 which is very odd as they seemed to have christened his siblings shortly after birth. I never had the 1840 census so am truly grateful. I think that the marriage is going to stay elusive! Thanks Chris |

Chris how do you know Thomas was 30 when he was christened in 1808 ? Georgina. |

I think Chris has confused the 1841 census info with a baptism record. The 1841 info given is the age of your chap at that time - 30. |

Am I having a mad half hour or what. It is so obviously Thomas's son Thomas that was christened. My only excuse is that sometimes I type faster than my brain works!!! Chris |
