Trouble is, there is some info on here that should be stickies at the top of the page but GR have not agreed to do this. It would save people so much time if they had. |

I still don't understand most of the abreviations & I've been using these boards for over a year now. I don't believe LOL means the same thing every time. It seems to be used in loads of different contexts!!!! Liz |

Have just nudged a thread with lots of the abbreviations used on these boards. If you type in the search box 'information', there are quite a few threads giving advice for newbies. Have nudged one of those also. Best wishes Liz |

Thanks Liz - I wish I had known that when I first encountered this message board system. Clive |

A little while ago somebody suggested GR had a set of instructions and abreviations for newbies. I support that idea. I have just read a regular helper complaining about a man who claimed to be computer illiterate who she did not believe because he had 200 names on his tree. OK so I have nearly 400 but had never used any form of message board on any site until a couple of weeks ago. I write computer programmes and try to make sure enough information is there to help first timers. There is not much help here. Clive |
