Hi there, Civil registration ie certificates started in 1837 (though not compulsory then) You can order certificates online on www.gro.gov.uk or order them through the local registry offices. Best wishes Liz |

You can order certificates from when registration started in 1837 to the prsent day (or pretty close to it!). Where did you hear that you couldn't get them before 1900 ......... or who told you so?? |

if I seem a bit dim but can anyone please enlighten me as to why you can't order Certificates pre 1900? Maybe because they didn't have them then??? Susie x |
