My dad's cosuin was killed in WW2 aged 23 leaving a young widow, i'm happy to say I've just found a marriage for her in 1949 (am glad she found happiness). I want to see i f I can find any children from this second marriage. I know she married Bernard James but when looking under MMN would I look for White (her first marriage) or Field her maiden name? Thanks

I would look for Field to be honest, as that was her maiden name. But look out for both as you never know with some people!!

I usually try things like that - always interesting to see how quickly couples had children from getting married - or who was pregnant when they got married!

Normaly a second marriage would have her first married name on the index and not her surname at birth (maiden name) as with birth certs for children of the second marriage it would have in the column for mothers name, her first married name and then say (Formaly) with the maiden name under that. Hope i have explaind that so you can understand. also try http://home.clara.net/dixons/Certificates/marriages.htm#COL2 Roy
