Please could anyone tell me if there is an easy way to add the descendants of a common ancestor to my tree from other trees that I can view. I am only interested in descendants but some of my ancestors have so many it makes it a really drawn out and complicated process. Any tips on making life easier would be very much appreciated. Thanks a lot for any advice Marilyn

I wondered this too, Marilyn, but no-one could tell me. So I guess it's down to the 'finger excercises' again for you! Sorry I can't be more help. Someone else might know. Bx

The only way is if the other person sends you a Gedcom file and then you have other family tree software on your PC and you can merge your trees. If not and you are just talking about here on Genes, then you will have to type them in one by one. Sam x

Hi thanks to both of you, I am at the moment adding the blood relatives to my family tree on Family Tree Maker, and then I will download my revised tree later, but having so many makes for aching fingers. As I am ignoring any non blood relatives not sure if merging would actually work, or if you can `pick and choose`. Oh well back to the finger exercises, thanks a lot for replying. Marilyn

Marilyn- One tip I saw on here a while ago has certainly saved my fingers (and my sanity!) - 'There's no rush - your ancesters aren't going anywhere'! Love that- puts it all into perspective. After all, most of us do have LIVING family, who might like a bit of our time, too! Bx

Thanks Barbara Got to split my time three ways, the living, the dead and work, and work will take some of my time up later today, as well as the living I have to say, but for now need to get typing. Just panicking a bit cos not sure if the trees will disappear if the owners membership runs out and I have not got all info. Do you know if I would still be able to view them. Thanks Marilyn
