Having been on the Lost Cousins webpage it states that ancestry sub is approx £55. However when I try to subscribe it takes me to the main Ancestry page where the full amount of about £79 is quoted. Have I done something wrong? Any help much appreciated Anne |

Hi Anne, You could try ringing them, suppose it will be Tuesday now before it's possible and tell them what is happening. I have heard of other people contacting them and getting the cheaper price. Good Luck Christine |

Thanks Christine I'll try ringing on Tuesday, but do you mean ringing Ancestry or Lost Cousins? It doesn't seem right that there are different prices for what is basically the same thing! Anne |

Hi Ann, I went onto the Lost Cousins website on Saturday and joined Ancestry for £55 pound. No problems at all. Sue |

Someone on Family Tree Forum just bagged it for £55 on Lost Cousins. Go back and see if you are missing the link on there. I think you click on beginners or something dont you? |

Hi Anne, I meant to ring Ancestry, sorry for not making it clear, but it looks now as if it is possible to do it for the reduced amount. Christine |

I subscribed to Ancestry a year ago through Lost Cousins at £55 odd. My subscription recently ran out, and Ancestry let me renew at the same price. |

I had the same problem with renewal at £79.95 and lost cousins link not working to the £55.96 offer. I was going to clear the PC so that the ancestry site wouldn't know I had already been a member but it was quicker to just use my second PC that had not previously been used on the ancestry site. I had also been told that there were no discounts for long term subscribers. |

Thanks all for your advice. I've just tried again with no luck. I even changed to a different email in case I was 'recognised' but perhaps it is because I've already had a monthly sub with them as you suggested. Before I ring them tomorrow I'm going to try it all again from my works computer - different email again & different address. If that fails then there's always the option to go through Quidco which doesn't reduce it to £55, but takes 15% off I think. Will keep you informed. Anne |

Firstly I tried accessing Lost Cousins reduced subscription for Ancestry from my works computer but had the same problem. Possibly because I have logged on to Ancestry from here before the machine remembers me & has therefore blocked a 'new' subscription application. Then I rang Ancestry customer services on 0800-404-9723 and spoke to an extrememly charming american chap (could have listened to his voice for ages! - calm down girl!). He was unaware of the offer and patiently accessed the site following my instructions whilst we were on the phone. Even though it was not their 'official' offer he said he would honour it - although he would have to charge VAT on the price - not sure why, but even with that added on the price of £65 is still less than the full amount quoted. He set up the account there and then so I am now a fully fledged annual member! So, a partial victory then. Not the low price of £55 but certainly not the high price of £79. Hope this helps - and thanks for all your suggestions. Anne |
