Hi Glitter - I think Ancestry does a 'clever' thing and keeps a records of all the Trying to Finds as well as trees. So if somebody looks for Joe Bloggs after you have looked for Joe Bloggs you get a message. They appear to be quite good at not passing on email info. Clive

One of these communal sites, I am told, has the copyright to your tree if you put it on their site. Can't remember which it is, can someone tell me? I don't want anyone having the copyright to me tree except me! Margaret

Well I tried looking at the name I was given on the 1901 census to see if I had been the person making the name correction but for some reason Ancestry would not let me view it. Checked out the names on GR and no luck - also the names on the email and again no luck. Did reply to the original message and have just had a reply. Apparently I was the person that made the name correction so it was presumed that I was researching the same family. That is the first time that I have received a message because I made a name correction. Maureen

Mo, I have FTM2005 but never 'post' any info from the net to FTM while I am online. I prefer to copy and paste any info into a word document and then put details into FTM. My tree on this site is from FTM by GEDCOM. Maureen

Heather, It is really strange as the 1901 entry does seem familiar. But if I altered it because of a lookup for a member on GR then why can I not view the correction. Oh well will have to disappoint someone as I am not connected to their family. Thanks for answering, Maureen

How strange. Cos they have three sort of trees on there dont they - public, personal and One World.

Heather, I have no one of that surname in my tree. Maureen

Think I have already answered my own question as the name mentioned in the email has had a name correction added. Problem is that I cannot view the correction to see if I actually altered the entry. Maureen

No Glitter, I think it means what it says - that a tree is on there??? Id should nip over sharpish to find out if your stuff is listed.

I have received an email this morning which says 'This email was sent in response to information you posted on Ancestry or RootsWeb.' It goes on to say 'I saw that you submitted a personal tree to Ancestry which contains name ****'. Well I do not have a tree on Ancestry and have never used RootsWeb. Could this message be because I might have altered a name when doing lookups for a member of this site and they have presumed that because I have altered the name I am connected to this person.
