Having just logged on to GR I have had 4 phishing emails in the last few minutes from (supposedly) Halifax telling me to update my account! All identical! Have mentioned this before on another thread. Is this happening to anyone else or is it just me? Trina Update - could it be because I posted asking about the town Halifax ???? Is it possible it acted as some kind of buz word that has been picked up? I have blocked emails with Halifax in them now anyway

I get Halifax all the time and egg.com. I don't bank with either of them.

Hi Petrina, I replied to Bob's post on the General board about the very same thing. Halifax seem to be particularly bad for this. I get at least one e-mail a week from them asking me to verify my details. I don't bank with them, never have! If I did, I'd be very concerned about the security of their site, and my details! There is a series of phishing emails apparently doing the rounds. They are all worded similar so may be from the same source. It is not Halifax's fault Deborah - they aren't sending the messages, they are the victim.....!

You can block certain emails by using spam controls. On AOL which I use, I have gone into spam controls and added the word Halifax. Now if I get any emails with that in the title or name they are blocked. (I also have meds and various other words there too).
