I very much doubt if the change of forename is ever recorded anywhere, sorry. She obviously just preferred the name. My father was born Edward and used that name for the first 40 years of his life. He then changed to Graham. The change was not recorded anywhere. Legally, you can call yourself whatever you like as long as it is not intended to defraud or impersonate someone else. OC

Is there any record kept of a chnage of name? A relative now uncontactable left me some notes stating that one Maria Elliott, changed her name from Sarah Elliott on 24th Dec 1881. He does not explain his source, and i wasonwdering if this is reocrded anywhere? Thanks Paul
