That last was bad info too! Try this By 1890 the total number of trade unionists on the railways was about 48,000 out of a total work force of 381,000. Numbers continued to grow and by 1910 it had increased to 116,000, two-thirds of whom were in the ASRS and about one-sixth in ASLEF. In 1913 the National Union of Railwaymen (NUR) was formed by the amalgamation of the ASRS, the United Pointsmen and Signalmen's Society and the General Railway Workers Union. Clive

The main grouping of the railways happened in 1923. If you have any idea of the town/city of interest its historys pages may tell you which railway companies served it. Clive

British Railways did not come into being until nationalisation after WW2. You would need to know the name of the Railway Company. Reg

does anywon now how to get hold of workers names on the railways 1900 in the north of england but not scotland i don`t know if it would come under british rail or not
