Thanks Elaine. There are two Edith Ann Hardings listed about a year apart. One in North Ormsby and one in Middlesbrough. It seems only the one in N Ormsby lasted until a census and by 1901 she was living in Middlesbrough. I just find the set-up bizarre and am told that W E Price would not talk about his first wife and the daughter of his second marriage always talked about her brother but with non-family members would correct herself to say step-brother. Heigh ho Clive

Thanks for trying. I have two NZ families who ought to know something about this but one family is very slow to reply and the other has no electronic communications and travels frequently. The Price/Harding side are not direct family members but ..... Clive

I'm sure you've seen this Clive. Edith Ann Harding b Dec Q 1886 Middlesbrough on TVI its Reg district is listed as Guisborough, I think North Ormesby was included in Guis Reg district. Elaine

I'm reaching the stage where I suspect that Edit Ann Harding was not born as such or one of the Reginald Prices was neither her son nor the second wife's son. There are one or two possibilities where MMN is not Harding, Buckle, or Price but where Reginald Price is born in Middlesbrough. Back to Ancestry again!! Clive

That's an interesting thought Heather. I have always taken it as true that he was a step brother of the second wife's daughter as has been claimed. Second wife is described as spinster on marriage certificate with no occupation shown. Family lore has it that she was a teacher (one or two of her sisters definitely were). In those times, even during the war I believe, women of child bearing age had to give up teaching but at least at times only did so a day or so before marriage and still showed themselves as teachers on the certificate. Next Price child born was Mary who I have down as 1916. Must check that now!! Clive

Did you order Edith's death cert? Is it possible she died in labour or shortly after giving birth one of mine, we couldn't figure out how her supposed son could be a certain age when we knew she had died... the sums looked like she had died before he was born but on further investigation she died 5 days after he was born (having retained the placenta - must have been an awful painful death). Also, is it possible that he either had an illegitimate son or was married to someone else and had a child previous to his marriage to Edith? Also... remember that while family sources can be great they might not always be accurate. Look for Reg's birth *after* the second marriage too.

I have a record of marriage of William Egerton Price to Edith Ann Harding in 1910 and a record of death of Edith Ann Prive in 1913. I guess that Edith Ann was born North Ormsby in 1887. The marriage, death, and W E Price's subsequent remarriage and 1901 census address are all Middlesbrough. Two different family sources say that W E Price had a son known as Reg(inald) Price before he remarried in 1915 to Hannah Buckle. When where was he born? What was his mother's name if not the Edit Harding above? Clive

Was he possibly the second wifes son?
