If your uncle was born on Jan 1st 1907, his birth reg'n would be in the JFM qtr 1907........which is where you say it is.........or am I missing something? Reg

The birth indexes will be correct - allowing for registration in the quarter after the birth. The date of birth given in the death indexes is only as accurate as the informant - you don't have to produce the birth cert to register the death. Janice

it's possible that even though he was born in 1906 that it doesn't show until the next quarter. It depends when it was registered and also when the registrar sent in the quarters. Not sure about the woman, perhaps they mistranscribed the 5 for a 6. Also as others said, the death cert isn't always an accurate record of the date of birth. Do you have the certificates? try ordering them to see what they say?

Thank you for advise my Aunt was supposed to be born 6/12/1906 on the death records on Familypast.com they have her birth as 1905 and my uncle is on there also as 01/01/1907 birth but there was supposed to have been to kids born in same year so I am wondering if the 1905 one is correct as another uncle born beginning of 1905 as she had 12 kids I have messaged the records office will let you know out come

You can't rely on Birth dates quoted on death certs...they can easily be worng. Think, for a start, about how many women lie about their age!! Reg

The record on Ancestry is a copy of the GRO index of the Registration of the birth........the parents were allowed a period of six weeks in which to register the child, so a registration qtr of JFM 1906 is perfectly feasible for a Dec 1905 birth................. The GRO index does not record the actual date..........ONLY the birth cert has that info. Reg
