Can anyone give me advice on how to track my grandfather 's side of the family with very ittle info? Thomas Frederick Moore(always called Fred) b about 1883 in somewhere that looks like Mayo, Ireland? I have his marriage cert so have a father named Samuel who was dead by wedding (1912 in east London). He lived in East London/Essex after that. He was a civil servant in England and awarded the MBE in or just after WWII (probably for long service) but I was wondering if it is possible to find out when and why. (tried London Gazette and couldn't find it). The King was not able to present the medal which is why I am dating it as between 1940 and 1952. Does the fact that he was in the English Civil service means he had to be from Northern Ireland? Any help gratefully received |
