Hi everyone Thanks so much for your help, I like some of the ideas for the fathers name lol. Ive just left it blank for the moment, hoping that in the future maybe I will find out the father (probably no chance) but you can always hope. Much appreciated to everyone for helping me. Best wishes Yvonne |

In FTM there is no need to add a spouse. Just enter the child against its mother. |

Just a little funny (well I thought so anyway), my nephew decided to trace his family (his fathers) only to discover he had a Catholic priest with 3 illigitimate children. |

I had plenty of 'unknown' spouses so I thought I would single this one out as 'Randy Git'. Makes a change it nothing else......and I did chuckle whilst I was adding him! |

Oh, Teresa, I like that so much better than mine. I use Reunion and I found that Reunion will allow you to add one child to a woman without requiring a father, but if you've got a woman who had an illegitimate child, then had another (known) partner and had a couple more, you have to give the 'unknown' parent an identity. I just put him in as 'Unknown Father' or 'Unknown Spouse'. Just came across a relative who had two illegitimate children in the 1850s (surely that's a touch careless), both of whom were off-loaded onto grandma and grandad in time for the census. In this case, 'Unknown Father' on the Genes tree has to serve as parent to both children. |

Yvonne I think you just need to add a spouse (no need to give him a name) & attach the child to that relationship. Angela |
