Thanks. I've just found one that's St.James, Westminster. Ancestry seems to be hiding results from me, so I'm holding out hope of finding it. The St.James one might well be it. |

I think it might be Westminster now that I've looked back at the google results. Any thoughts? Thanks, Liz |

Someone born in Soho would be registered in Westminster Registration District. Registration of births wasn't strictly enforced until 1875 so it os possible that he was never registered. Sam x |

These always leave me a bit head scratchy because what may be the reg dis on say the census, isn't when it comes to BMDs. The ancestor I'm currently tracing, Charles Francis Jenkins was born in 1868/9 and the census all the way through says he was born in Soho (and some more specifically St.Annes, Soho). But I haven't been able to find a birth that matches. I do have a Charles Jenkins born in Pancras, but my London knowledge is limited. I've tried google and am more confused than I was before lol. Any ideas? Could Pancras be a substitute for Soho? |
