Ah. I see, sometimes you wish they'd be consistent. My current pet hate is searching in London with common names. It's a nightmare, why couldn't they have had an exotic name instead? lol I think you have to use your judgement to select the most likely one. If there's one with the middle initial in the right area, start with that, I guess. If it wasn't London you could probably of had the local records office check them for you, cheaper or even free in some cases. I dont think you can do that with London though. Good luck. Liz |

Hi Liz, Have checked all Census they vary but it is all the same area. He was living at home with parents up to and including 1901. |

When you order a cert, you can ask them to check the parents names. If they don't match, you get a refund of £4. Would be cheaper than ordering them all! Sam x |

Have you checked the census for a more precise location of birth or do they vary? |

Hi, I have a John (W?) Arnold (1876) born Shoreditch/Whitechapel/Bethnal Green. I have been trying to find a concrete birth, marriage and death for him but there are quite a few to choose from. His parents are Charles Arnold and Amelia Arnold (nee Dignan). Is there anyway of whittling them down other buying each and every cert. until I get the right one as this could be really costly. Lin |
