sent wrong birth cert by GRO

I have been sent the wrong birth certificate by the GRO - can I contact them and will they change it? I clearly put the reference on it and district, which was St Saviour Southwark, but they have sent me a cert from St Saviour Surrey! Any help? |

Sorry but GRO have not made a mistake. St Saviour Southwark was St Saviour Surrey. Google St Saviour Southwark and see for yourself. You may not like what is sent but that is not GRO's fault (usually) - see devastated on this messageboard. If you give details on here some of the very experienced and helpful may give you sensible assistance. Clive |

The district St Saviour is an alternative name for St Saviour Southwark, Until 1889 most of the area it covered was in Surrey, in 1889 transferred to the new County of London. districts : Borough Road; Christ Church; Kent Road; London Road; Newington St. Mary; Newington Trinity; St. Saviour; Walworth St. Peter. It was succeeded by Southwark district in 1901 Update - sorry Clive, I was sidetracked by my small terrier picking an argument with a neighbours rottweiller whilst typing so didn't spot you'd already answered this. (ps only the fence was injured in the fight!) |
