If it is Charles and Esther's son it must be Charles or George. There aer no birth records for a Rueben around that time and for Esther to have another son it would have been much earlier or later Sarah

Registration was not a necessity at that time. I am surprised at someone moving to Lincolnshire in that period - most people were moving out to find work. 16 was quite old to be a sweep servant - Black Beauty and Dickens were begining to have an effect but not a lot. I think it was1870s before Portsmouth had a 'stop children sweeps' movement. Clive

If this Reuben, the chimney sweep is the one you are looking for then his father should be called Titus not Charles. There is a bit of confusement here because on Charles marriage it says the father is Titus and on Reubens marriage it says father Titus, but on Charles birth certificate it comes back telling me father is Charles so I am really confused here. If Andrea can come up with firth marriage for Reuben with father it might help me, I can't even send for Reubens birth certificate because I can not find a date. Andrea can you see on the BVRI the details for Reubens first marriage in 1860 July qtr Lincoln district he married Mary Lindsey McCall. Thankyou for your time.

Sorry, the only marriage on the BVRI for Reuben is the one to Rachel. I do wonder if either Reuben or Charles was registered. They both say born Brigstock which should come under the Thrapston registration area. Braybrooke which I believe Reuben mentions would have been Market Harborough. But there are no Hares born in either district at the appropriate time.
