Shirley the problem is when you try to pay for a certificate, they dont accept credit card payments and they only accep Euro cheque's which make it difficult, this is the info from their site... Payment Methods : We will accept personal cheques/bank drafts, International Money Orders and Irish Postal Orders denominated in € Euro. N.B. Euro denominated [personal cheques, bank drafts or International Money Orders must be drawn on a branch of a bank located in the Republic of Ireland and be acceptable for clearance through the Irish cheque clearing system. They will accept Credit cards...Master Card & Visa as long as the name of the applicant is the same as the card. I have ordered loads of certificates that way. They will send a receipt along with the certificate which will be in € but it will be in £ on your Credit Card Statement. Regardfs...Teresa |

Teresa on the website it says they only accept credit card payments in person by post or fax. I cant get there in person & I am not writing credit card details in a letter or sending it by fax you dont know who can read it. Have you ordered by phone & paid with a credit card? Georgina. |

Hi Georgina I've always ordered my certificates by post from the Irish RO. I have spoken to a lady at the Dublin RO and she assures me that they have robust systems in place to ensure that your credit card details are kept safe within the office. The details are not for all and sundry to see..only those that process the charges. But you have to remember.... if you order ANYTHING mail order over the phone etc., and you are asked for your Credit card details... there is always a risk that some untrustworthy employee might make use of it. That's why I always use my Credit card rather than my Debit card...at least my bank account can't be emptied. I also check my Credit card balance every few days on line...just to make sure nothing appears on there that I haven't purchased. |
