Just a quick update on this one. I emailed the Pembroke Records Office this afternoon, and within a couple of hours I'd got a response. Apparently Edmunds Lane has changed its name, and Mary Regina had a funeral service at St.David's Cathedral. I'm really pleased to have got this far. Thanks everyone for reading this.

David, do you know where her mother was buried - she may have been buried with her. Does the Informant give you any clue? M. Steer

Thank you Clive I'll take your advise. I didn't think of looking at Haverfordwest (oh dear senior moment), because the registration district was Haverfordwest. My way of thinking was that St.Davids would have been the actual place where Mary died. Does that make sense???? I'll have a look there then. Thanks again.

Try the county library - St Davids is a bit rural (understatement) so quite possible only locals or large scale maps know the names of lanes. The Western Telegraph (Cardiff) covers the area but also look at http://www.haverfordwest-today(.)co.uk/today/options/other/othermain.cfm?passclass=Local%20Newspaper If St Davids was 'home' to Mum or Gran a holiday visit is quite possible for a birthday. There was a coal mine a little South of St Davids but I have forgotten its name and closing date. Possibly also worth a try if you have a bit (lot) of cheek - look up B & B for St Davids and phone for info! Haverfordwest definitely has an Edmunds Lane - it also has a castle, pubs, hotels and a great group of friendly people. Clive

Hi everyone, I've had good advise in the past from you all, and I was wondering whether you might be able to help again. Does anyone know the area of Pembroke?? I have a death cert for Mary Regina Tucker. She died January 20th 1920 in Edmunds Lane, St Davids R.D. (assuming this means rural district). She was only 10 years old, and died from a cardiac embolism. We know that her mother died when she was only a baby, and her father (who was a miner) at the time of her death was living in Gilfach, Bargoed, Glamorganshire The rest of the family were close, and all stayed together, so we don't think that she was abandoned or put into care, and whilst I know that girls did go into service, 10 seems a bit young, but I'm sure someone will tell me otherwise. I have done a Google search, and also looked on Google Earth, but can find no listing for Edmunds Lane, so its probable that it no longer exists. It doesn't say on the certificate where she was living at the time of her death, and this also brings in the question of where she might have been buried. Can anyone suggest where I might find anymore info ie local newspaper. Many thanks..
